Looking At A Busy Weekend

Ian got another piece of terrible candy today.  He says it tasted somewhere between apple and kimchi.  Better him than me, I'd have thrown up.

Our students have no concept of geography.  Ian tried to get his students to place countries on a map today and they could not.  I've had students ask me where "America" is.  Come on kid, it's a whole continent.

Today was pretty uneventful.  We're coming up on the end of the term, so Ian and I are doing report cards this weekend.

I had to ask David (who delivered the cards to me) to explain the differences between the terms pronunciation and intonation and the terms positiveness and attitude.  Apparently, "positiveness" refers to participation.  Why isn't it called participation?  Well, because we're in Korea.  I want this country to hire me as it's copy editor.

Considering that Ian and I each have somewhere between 150-210 students, this is going to be pretty time consuming.

Other than report cards, Ian and I don't have much planned for the weekend.  A little cleaning, a little Korean study, possibly celebrating some birthdays with the other teachers (whose, I am unsure), and maybe checking out Uirimji by ourselves.

What are you lovely people planning to do with your weekend?

Good night!

  1. Could you imagine the amount of job security if you were copy editor for Korea? I bet you are constantly mentally correcting English translations that you come across. Good luck with grading!

This weekend our plans are simple. I think we are going up to Lacey to visit your mom at the home for the holidays show. We might do some Christmas window shopping to get a game plan. Not that Rob doesn't already have a color coded, down to the minute game plan for Black Friday all mapped out. He will pretend to take my input this weekend and I will go along with it. ;)

Tonight we are having homemade nachos and margaritas to celebrate me not having to listen for a phone call at 6am to be called in!

Love you guys! Hope you have a good weekend!

  2. Unfortunately, I've found that I've gotten used to a lot of the grammar problems here and that I mentally fill in for the problems. Sometimes without realizing it. :( I like correcting the kids' writing because it keeps me sharp. Plus, some of the teachers come to me for grammar help.

I love Mexican food! But, you already know that. Luckily, we can make some here. It's not the best, but it curbs the cravings. :)
